Port of Brisbane Transport & Cartage

The Port of Brisbane at Fisherman Islands is where a huge share of Queensland's import and export freight lands, and getting it off the wharf and moving is its own discipline. Road Linx Transport runs landside cartage from the Port, moving cleared freight from the container terminals and empty container parks out to warehouses and customers across Brisbane and beyond.

If your goods have just come through the Port and need to be somewhere else quickly, this is freight we handle every week.

From the wharf to your warehouse

Once a container is cleared, the clock usually starts ticking on detention and storage. We move quickly to collect from the terminals along Port Drive and the surrounding precincts, then run the freight direct to your premises so you're not racking up avoidable charges.

For a lot of importers the smart move is straight-line delivery. Rather than send cleared stock to a depot to be broken down, we carry it directly from the Port to your dock or your customer's, handled once, which is faster and gentler on the freight.

Container and palletised freight

Port work isn't only containers. We handle the freight after it comes out of the box too, moving palletised import stock onward as general freight, distribution runs or B2B deliveries. That means one company can take your goods from the Fisherman Islands terminals all the way to the retailer or site they're destined for.

Short-notice and time-critical runs

Port timing rarely lines up neatly with business hours. When a container clears late or a slot opens up, we keep capacity for short-notice cartage, including early morning and after-hours collection, so your freight moves the moment it's ready rather than sitting another day.

The right equipment for landside freight

Depending on how your freight is packed and where it's going, a Port run might use a tautliner for palletised import stock, a flat-top for machinery or oversize items craned off, or a tail-lift truck for a delivery point with no forklift. All of it runs load-rated restraint under Chain of Responsibility, so heavy Port freight is secured properly for the road.

Connecting the Port to the region

Freight landing at Brisbane doesn't always stay in Brisbane. We run cleared Port freight out to the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, and south across the border into Northern NSW. So an importer bringing goods through Fisherman Islands can have them delivered to a customer in Yatala or Toowoomba on the same carrier that pulled them off the wharf.

Areas we serve from the Port

We cover the Port precincts at Fisherman Islands and Pinkenba, the nearby TradeCoast estates at Hemmant, Murarrie and Eagle Farm, and onward across Greater Brisbane and the wider South East Queensland and Northern NSW region. Wherever your cleared freight needs to land, we can carry it there direct.

Working in with your clearance timing

Every importer's timing is a little different, and the landside run has to flex around it. A container might clear customs first thing, or it might sit in quarantine inspection for the seasonal brown marmorated stink bug period and clear late in the day. We work in with whatever your clearance throws up rather than forcing your freight into a fixed slot.

We can also help with the tail end of the container cycle, returning empty boxes to the nominated park once you've unpacked. That closes the loop so you're not left arranging a separate movement for the empty.

Turnaround is everything on the wharf. The faster a cleared box is collected and unpacked, the less you spend on detention and storage, so we treat Port collections as time-sensitive by default rather than fitting them in around other work.
