Taxi Truck Hire in Brisbane

A taxi truck is exactly what it sounds like. You book a truck for a single job, it turns up, moves your load, and you pay for that trip rather than a full-day or ongoing rate. Road Linx Transport runs taxi trucks across Brisbane in sizes from one-tonne utes up to 12-tonne trucks, so you can get one item or a few pallets moved without hiring a truck by the day.

It's the quickest way to shift freight that's too big for a courier and too small to justify a full load.

When a taxi truck is the right call

Taxi trucks fill the awkward middle ground between a parcel courier and a booked freight run. You'll reach for one when:

  • A pallet or two has to get across town today
  • A courier ute is too small but a semi-trailer is overkill
  • You've got a one-off delivery and don't want an account or a schedule
  • Something has been left off a load and needs to catch up
  • A customer needs stock now and can't wait for the next scheduled run
  • Because you're paying for the job and not the day, it's cost-effective for exactly this kind of ad-hoc work.

Pick the right size truck

Sending the wrong size truck wastes money either way, so we size it to the load.

One-tonne utes and utes

For a handful of cartons, a single pallet or small items, a ute or flat-top ute does the job quickly and cheaply. This is the go-to for light, urgent runs around the metro.

Three to twelve-tonne trucks

When the load grows to several pallets or heavier gear, we step up to a mid-size or larger truck. Many of these carry a tail lift, so we can still deliver to sites without a forklift.

Fast dispatch across the metro

The value of a taxi truck is speed, so we keep vehicles moving around Brisbane and the Port ready to pick up. For local runs we can often have a truck to you the same day, and for genuinely urgent jobs our hot shot service runs a dedicated dash straight there.

You get a driver who knows the metro, load-rated restraint so your goods travel safely, and a signed POD on delivery if you need the paperwork.

No account, no fuss

You don't need an ongoing arrangement to use a taxi truck. Plenty of our taxi truck jobs are one-offs for businesses that usually run their own vehicles but have hit a busy day, a breakdown or an extra order. Call it in, we quote the trip, and it's done.

If you find you're booking taxi trucks often, we can set you up with an account or move you onto a standing run, whichever works out better for you.

Booking a taxi truck

  • Tell us what you're moving, from where to where, and when.
  • We size the truck and quote the trip.
  • The truck is dispatched, loads, and delivers direct.
  • You get a POD on request. No day rate, no ongoing commitment.

When to switch from taxi trucks to an account

A taxi truck is perfect for the odd job, but there's a point where booking them one by one stops making sense. If you're calling for a truck two or three times a week, you're doing more admin than you need to and probably not getting the best rate.

That's the moment to talk about an account or a standing run. You keep the on-demand flexibility for genuine one-offs, but your regular movements get set up once and priced better. We'll be upfront about it. If a regular arrangement would save you money over ad-hoc taxi trucks, we'll say so.

Frequently asked questions

Taxi Truck Hire in Brisbane — answered

A taxi truck is a truck you book for a single job, the same way you'd book a taxi. It collects your load, delivers it direct and you pay for that trip rather than a full day or an ongoing contract. Sizes range from small utes to larger trucks.
A courier suits parcels and small items, usually in a car or ute. A taxi truck handles bigger loads like pallets, furniture or equipment that won't fit a courier vehicle, with sizes up to 12 tonnes and tail lifts where needed.
You pay for the trip rather than a day rate, so cost depends on the truck size, the distance and how urgent it is. Because you only pay for the job, it's cost-effective for one-off and ad-hoc loads. Call us with the details for a price.
We run one-tonne utes and flat-tops through to 12-tonne trucks. Many of the larger vehicles carry a tail lift, so we can deliver to sites without a forklift or dock.
For local Brisbane jobs we can often dispatch the same day, and for urgent freight our hot shot service runs a direct dash. Booking ahead secures the best window, but we keep capacity for short-notice work.
No. Most taxi truck jobs are one-offs with no account or ongoing commitment. If you start booking regularly, we can set up an account or a standing run if that works out cheaper for you.
Yes. We can send a tail-lift truck so the driver can lower heavy or palletised items to ground level safely without a forklift or loading dock at either end.
We cover Brisbane, Brisbane metro and the Port of Brisbane, and run out to the Gold Coast, Northern NSW, the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and beyond. Local metro runs are our fastest turnaround.
Call 07 3179 7072 or email admin@roadlinxtransport.com.au with what you're moving, the pickup and delivery and your timing. We'll size the truck and quote the trip.
Yes, there's a minimum that covers dispatching a truck and driver to your job. Because you pay per trip rather than a day rate, it's still cost-effective for one-off loads. Call for a price on your specific run.
Yes. Taxi trucks handle furniture, fit-out and equipment as well as pallets, and we can send a tail-lift truck if items are heavy and there's no lifting gear on site.
Yes. While metro Brisbane is our fastest turnaround, taxi trucks also run out to the Gold Coast, Northern NSW, the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba. Distance affects the price and timing, not the on-demand nature of the booking.
If the truck has to wait at pickup or delivery beyond a reasonable loading time, waiting time may apply. We'll explain it up front so there are no surprises, and a well-prepared load keeps it to a minimum.
