A warehouse relocation is a logistics project, not just a big removal job. You're shifting racking, palletised stock, fit-out and sometimes machinery from one site to another while trying to keep the business trading. Road Linx Transport plans and runs warehouse and factory moves across Brisbane and South East Queensland, with the trucks and the trailers to do it in as few trips as possible.
The goal is simple. Get you into the new site with your stock intact and your downtime measured in hours, not weeks.
What a warehouse move actually involves
Every move is different, but most include a mix of the same elements. Getting the sequence right is what keeps the cost down and the disruption short.
- Palletised stock and raw materials, often hundreds of pallets
- Pallet racking and shelving that has to be dismantled, moved and stood back up
- Workbenches, fit-out, office contents and IT
- Plant and machinery that needs careful loading and restraint
- Waste and redundant stock that's easier to clear during the move
We handle the freight side end to end and coordinate with your team on the parts we don't, so nothing falls through the gap between removalist and transport company.
Keeping downtime short
The real cost of a warehouse move isn't the trucks. It's the time your business can't pick, pack or ship. We plan the run to protect that.
Move in planned waves
Rather than tipping everything into trucks at once, we sequence the move so the areas you need first come back online first. Fast-moving stock can be last out and first in, so you're trading again quickly at the new site.
After-hours and weekend moves
A lot of our relocation work happens overnight and across weekends for exactly this reason. Moving while the business is closed means you reopen at the new address with the shelves already stocked, instead of losing trading days mid-week.
The right trucks for a relocation
Warehouse moves throw up every kind of load, so a single ute won't cut it. We bring tautliners and semi-trailers for the bulk pallet runs, flat-tops for racking and long items, and tail-lift trucks for anywhere the new or old site has no forklift or dock.
That range matters most at the delivery end. If your new unit doesn't have a dock yet, a tail-lift truck lets us bring heavy items down to ground level safely rather than risking a manual lift.
Handled under Chain of Responsibility
Big, dense loads like stock and machinery have to be restrained properly, and a warehouse move is no excuse to cut corners. Our drivers restrain to the rating on load-rated equipment and work to Chain of Responsibility obligations throughout, so a rushed relocation doesn't turn into a road-safety or insurance problem.
Planning your relocation
- We walk through the move with you: what's shifting, the access at both sites and your must-trade dates.
- We build a sequenced plan and quote, including whether an after-hours or weekend run saves you money overall.
- We supply the trucks, trailers and crew and run the move to the plan.
- We confirm everything has landed and is where it needs to be at the new site.
Whether you're moving a small unit across a suburb or an entire distribution centre across the region, the same principle holds. Plan it properly and the move barely interrupts the business.
A bit of prep makes the move cheaper
The moves that run smoothly are the ones that are prepared. A few simple things on your side keep our trucks working instead of waiting, and waiting trucks are the main thing that pushes a relocation over budget.
- Label areas and pallets so they go straight to the right spot at the new site
- Confirm access at both ends: dock, forklift, truck size limits and parking
- Keep a skeleton pick area running until the last wave if you're still trading
- Flag any machinery or racking that needs a specialist to dismantle first
We'll walk through all of this when we plan the move, so nothing gets missed and the day itself is boring in the best way.
